Why choose resin?

Resin-bound surfacing is hard-wearing, permeable and virtually maintenance-free. There are no loose stones to scatter, no puddles and no weeds pushing up through joints. It comes in a wide choice of natural aggregate colours and its smooth finish looks especially good on modern homes. Because it's permeable, it usually meets SUDS drainage rules without the need for planning permission.

Resin bound, not resin bonded

It's worth knowing the difference. Resin-bound means the stone is mixed with resin and trowelled on for a smooth, permeable finish, which is what we recommend and install. Resin-bonded scatters stone over resin for a rougher, non-permeable surface. Bound is the more durable, better-draining and better-looking option for a driveway.

Laid over a solid base

A resin surface is only as good as what's underneath it. We lay resin over a sound, properly prepared base, either a new permeable base or existing tarmac or concrete that's in good condition, so the finished driveway stays strong and drains as it should.

Areas we cover

We install resin driveways across Orpington, Petts Wood, Green Street Green, Bromley, Hayes and Chislehurst and the surrounding villages.

FAQs

Resin Driveways: your questions answered

What affects the cost of a resin driveway?

The main things are the size of the driveway, the condition of the existing base and whether a new permeable sub-base is needed underneath. We give you a clear, written price after a free site visit, so there are no surprises.

Resin or block paving — which is right for me?

Both are excellent, hard-wearing choices. Resin gives a smooth, seamless, permeable finish that suits modern homes and needs very little upkeep. Block paving offers a huge range of colours and patterns, and you can lift and relay individual blocks if they're ever damaged. If you're weighing them up, we'll talk you through both for your driveway and quote each so you can compare.

How long does a resin driveway last?

A well-installed resin-bound driveway typically lasts 15 to 25 years with very little maintenance. Laying it over the right base is what makes the difference.

Is a resin driveway permeable and SUDS compliant?

Yes. A resin-bound surface is permeable, so it drains through rather than running off to the road. That usually means no planning permission is required.

Does resin get weeds or fade?

Very rarely. The sealed, jointless surface leaves nowhere for weeds to take hold and UV-stable resin keeps the colour looking consistent for years.
